One’s Own Point of View
One of my internet acquaintances sent me a joke.
The UNO solicited children all over the world for an answer to question: Please give your own point of view on the grain shortage of other countries. The result was no answer from any child of any country.
The reason was found as follows.
Children from Africa didn’t know what it was by ‘grain’; those from Europe had not idea of ‘shortage’; those from
I smiled wryly at the joke, admiring the penetrating insight of the author. It was a piece of sarcasm that hit the nail on the head. We’ve never been brought up with any idea of ‘one’s own point of view’. Most of us have to struggle through muddle-headedness for a long time before we realize: Oh, the life I’ve lived seems to be not the life I’m seeking for.
